
In this shiur, delivered at the first Mishmar of NCSY Kollel, Rav Burg explains the Mashal of the King taking his son to a faraway land in order to be healed. On the return journey, the King recounts to his son all of the challenges that they faced on the journey.
The Neshoma in shomayim is "sick" in that it has no "independent identity." We are sent far away to this world to "heal" so that we can participate in a relationship with Hashem. Our most challenging moments become the greatest opportunity for connection.
