PADRES POSTCAST: Series Split: Manny HR’s, Padres Can’t Solve Merrill Kelly in 3-1 Loss to D’Backs

The Padres had a chance to take three of four from the Diamondbacks, but after Manny Machado’s second-inning home run, the offense disappeared. Merrill Kelly dominated over seven innings, Arizona scored three unanswered runs, and San Diego settled for a four-game series split.

The Padres bounced back nicely after losing the opener by winning Games 2 and 3, but couldn’t finish off the series. They’ll now try to build momentum heading into the break after previously salvaging the Dodgers series with Sunday’s win.
