RED SOX POSTCAST: 5-Run 1st Backs Bello & Sox Extend Win Streak to 6 Straight

The Red Sox (63-51) opened up their series with the Kansas City Royals Monday night at Fenway with an 8-5 victory. With the win, the Sox have won 6 in a row and are a season- high 12 games over .500. The Sox have won 9 of 11 overall and are 13-1 over their last 14 at Fenway. The Sox bullpen allowed 4 runs in the 8th and Aroldis Chapman came on in a save situation in the 9th and retired the side 1-2-3 to close out the victory.

Bello's Bringing It: Brayan Bello made the start in the opener and notched his 8th win. Bello went 6.0 Innings and gave up 1 run (unearned) on 6 hits. Bello walked only 1 and struck out 5. It's the 9th time this season where Bello gave up 0 or 1 earned run in an outing and 2nd straight. The Sox are now 10-9 in Bello's 19 starts this season. Bello now has a 3.03 ERA thru 20 outings. Bello was 18-for-25 on 1st-pitch strikes.

Sox at the Dish: The Red Sox sent 8 hitters to the plate and scored 5 runs in the 1st Inning against Bailey Falter, who made his Royals debut Monday night. Rob Refsnyder delivered with a 2-run Single and later in the Inning, Jarren Duran hit a 2-out, 3-run Home Run on a 2-2 Pitch. Sox added on in the 3rd with Trevor Story reaching with a 2-out walk, stealing 2nd and scoring on an RBI Single from Ceddanne Rafaela. Wilyer Abreu knocked in a run with an RBI Single in the 8th and that put the Sox up, 8-1. Story went 1-for-3 with a walk and has hit in 6 in a row (10 Hits. 4 2B. 3 HR. 8 RBIs).

At-Bat of the Game: Jarren Duran's 2-out 3-run Home Run in the 1st made it 5-0. It was Duran's 12 Home Run of the season and his 2nd vs. a lefty pitcher. The Sox ended up scoring 6 of their 7 runs with 2 outs in an inning.
