RED SOX POSTCAST: Giolito Dominates Over 8 Innings & Sox Pull off Sweep of Astros

The Red Sox (62-51) won their 5th in a row and pulled off the series sweep over the Houston Astros with Sunday's 6-1 win at Fenway Park. The Sox are a season 11 games over .500 and it's their 6th sweep of the season and 5th at home. The Sox have won 8 of 10 overall and are 12-1 over their last 13 at Fenway. Chris Murphy worked a perfect 1-2-3 9th Inning to close the door on the Astros.

Going with Gio: Lucas Giolito turned in a terrific performance on the mound Sunday at Fenway. Giolito turned in his longest outing of the season going 8.0 Innings and allowed 1 run on 3 Hits. He walked 1 and fanned 4. He gave up a solo Home Run to Carlos Correa in the 4th Inning. It's Giolito's 2nd straight quality outing and 11th of the season. Giolito got 10 groundball outs & 10 fly-ball outs. He had 4 1-2-3 Innings on the day and allowed only a Single to Jose Altuve in the 6th over his final 4 Innings. The Sox improved to 12-5 when Giolito takes the mound to start with Sunday's win.

Sox at the Dish: Roman Anthony extended his hit streak to 8 in row with a leadoff Double against Framber Valdez in the Bottom of the 4th Inning. Trevor Story tied the game at 1-1 with an RBI Single. The Sox were far from done, scoring 6 total runs in the inning. Ceddanne Rafaela's RBI Single put the Sox up, 2-1. Wilyer Abreu had a safety squeeze that scored Rafaela from 3rd. Alex Bregman went 0-for-3 with a walk on Sunday and went 2-for-11 over the 3 games against his former club.

At-Bat of the Game: Roman Anthony had the game-winning hit in the 10th on Friday night, and he got things going with his leadoff Double in the 4th that got the big 6-run frame going.

--Framber Valdez took the loss on Sunday, ending his streak of 10 straight winning decisions.

It's the first for Valdez since taking the "L" against the White Sox on May 2nd.

--The Sox came from behind in all 3 games vs. the Astros and Sunday's win was the Sox 26th comeback win of the season.

--The Sox are 23-13 in the series finale and have won the final game of a series in each of their 1st 5 series since the All-Star Break.

Brayan Bello, Garrett Crochet & Dustin May are the 3 scheduled starters for the Red Sox for the KC series. May is set to make his Boston debut in the series finale. After Wednesday's finale, the Sox go on the road for 6 in row with 3 in San Diego against the Padres and 3 in Houston with the Astros (August 12-14).
