Beatrice and her draglings, Edwine, Lyle, and Smudge, with Carnelian the fairy, Furball the kitten, and Tom have just successfully overcome the island fortress of Oleanne, home to the guild of the Bone Eyed Spider. They discover that Beatrice's missing dragling, Stellah, was in fact here, but has recently escaped, and no one knows where she has gone.
