Now onto today’s episode:

Television presenter Sophie Falkiner is two years into a major renovation of her family home on Sydney’s Northern Beaches and she’s thought about almost every detail, from the sage-green shutters and antique French mirrors to the checkerboard floors and ocean-view bath.

In this episode of The Edit, Sophie joins Home Beautiful Editor-in-Chief Elle Lovelock to talk through her Nancy Meyers-inspired vision, why she chose to renovate rather than knock down and rebuild, and the surprisingly big decisions behind the floor plan, including giving up a bedroom to create a statement powder room.

Plus, Sophie looks back on her career in television, from Wheel of Fortune to travel shows including The Great Outdoors and Luxury Escapes, and shares her approach to family travel, entertaining and the little details that make her house feel like home.

This episode covers:

• Sophie’s journey from Wheel of Fortune to travel television
• Why she’s always dreamed of a home by the ocean
• What defines the timeless Nancy Meyers aesthetic
• The influence of her Dutch mother and her love of a house-proud home
• How Sophie’s Northern Beaches renovation is taking shape
• Her plans for a Hamptons-inspired exterior and a classic, creamy kitchen
• The design details she loves, from herringbone floors to vintage lighting
• Why she believes a home should be warm, welcoming and made for entertaining
• How she built a friendship group after moving to the Northern Beaches
