The New York Islanders let another third period lead slip away and lost to the Detroit Red Wings 2-1 in regulation. That ended their chance for a .500 road trip. The problem is at least partially psychological as this veteran team should know better than to be on their heels all period while protecting a one goal lead. The Isles have held a one-goal lead seven times this season and lost the lead in all seven.
