In this episode of The Mama Psychedelia Podcast, I interview Cynthia Ingar who is a Peruvian carrier and teacher of ancestral woman medicine and traditions. She is a medical anthropologist, Birth Guardian/Doula, Pregnancy-Postpartum Guardian, women’s health educator, and mother of two boys and a girl who were birthed at home. Cynthia is the founder and director of the Hampi Warmi Project (2008), a community-based Peruvian project bringing intercultural reproductive health to Andean women and girls by revitalizing ancestral woman medicine wisdom and practices, including Andean community midwifery. She teaches the “Wachakuy: Sacred Birth Way” Birthkeeper Program in the Andes of Peru every year in Spanish and English. The goal for this program and her work with Peruvian trained-midwives is to de-colonize midwifery in Peru. Cynthia lives with her family in the Sacred Valley, Peru. Such an inspiring journey Cynthia has been on.
