Brent Venables Quarterback Bet Takes Center Stage At The Cotton Bowl

Is it time for Oklahoma to make a change at quarterback? Brent Venables has made it clear: John Mateer is still his guy. But after six turnovers over the last three games, an offense averaging just over 12 points per game during that stretch, and No. 1 Texas waiting on the other side of the bye week, the pressure is mounting. In this episode, we debate the biggest question facing the Sooners: Does Oklahoma stick with Mateer's high ceiling and hope he finds his game, or is Whitt Newbauer worth the gamble? This isn't about whether Newbauer is better. It's about whether Oklahoma can afford to keep putting the football in harm's way against a Texas defense that will make the Sooners pay for every mistake. #Sooners #BoomerSooner #OUFootball Learn more about your ad choices.
