When coaching elk hunters, it was pace that stood out as one of the more difficult and important aspects of the hunt for them to grasp, understand and know what to use. Pace in their calling… how often and how much when they do call. Pace in their movements through the woods, when to hurry up and slow down. Pace in reacting to a verbal response, a fresh track, a smell or on a stalk. And even Pace when it comes to energy output during the hunt. Not often talked about and yet so critical.
