He-Man Deep Dive

In this special solo episode of Sketching Up, Matt Tornetta takes over the show while Chris Schnabel is busy with work and dives into everything from He-Man and the Masters of the Universe to the current state of DC Comics, the upcoming Superman film, and some listener mailbag questions.

Matt opens the episode with thoughts on James Gunn's upcoming Superman movie, the newly revealed Lex Luthor armor, and why DC fans have plenty to be excited about heading into the next phase of the DC Universe. He also breaks down the critically acclaimed Absolute DC comic line, including Absolute Batman, Absolute Superman, Absolute Green Arrow, and Absolute Martian Manhunter.

Later, Matt answers listener questions about animation icons, favorite cartoon collectibles, gaming obsessions, and the characters that would make up his personal Mount Rushmore of animation.

The second half of the episode becomes a full celebration of He-Man, exploring the history of the franchise from the original 1983 animated series through the 2002 reboot and Netflix's Masters of the Universe: Revelation and Revolution. Matt discusses the mythology of Eternia, Skeletor's origins, Kevin Smith's influence on the franchise, and why He-Man remains one of the most influential action cartoons ever created.

Whether you're a fan of comic books, animation history, superheroes, gaming, or classic cartoons, this episode has something for every pop culture fan.
