McKinsey Recruiting: Amy and Caro on the Personal Experience Interview at McKinsey

What does McKinsey’s Personal Experience Interview (PEI) entail? How does it differ from other types of interviews? Why do we ask candidates to share examples from their personal experiences during our interviews? Caro is a senior business analyst based in our New York office. She began her McKinsey career in 2017. Prior to that, she worked at a non-profit organization and completed a summer internship at McKinsey. Caro’s internship with McKinsey made her realize that she wanted to be part of a firm where she could have a significant impact and achieve change, both inside and outside of the organization. Outside of work Caro loves theatre and improv. She has a successful TikTok channel where she shares her perspectives on movies and TV shows.

Amy is a senior expert with our assessment team based in our New York office. She started her McKinsey career 25 years ago as a consultant in our Chicago office after graduating from business school. Amy is a trusted advisor, coach and presenter, both inside and outside McKinsey. Amy earned a degree in art history and has passion for art. Outside of work, Amy frequently visits various museums and exhibitions.
