208. Magnificent Sex: Great Lovers Are Made

At the start of season 4 we agreed that we had to take more risks and have more edgy conversations. This interview definitely lived up to our intention for season 4! We were surprised when a guest reached out to us to share her story of how she was having the best sex of her life in her 70s. After a short conversation with her, we agreed that we needed to do a full interview to let her share her story and her wisdom. This interview had us laughing, and above all, was highly educational and inspiring. Our guest requested we keep her identity anonymous. Please note: this conversation is not suitable for children or youth, so if you listen to this in the car with kids in the back, pop in some headphones.

We talk about:

  • Her early years that taught her to remain virginal, and her first sexual experience at 19.
  • Her years as a hippy, and how retrospectively she can see that even though she believed at the time she was free, how even the hippy movement was patriarchal in nature.
  • How her life evolved as a wife, mother and eventually a widow and the years she spent alone.
  • Her surprise at meeting her current partner and the amazing sexual life that began to emerge.
  • The power of presence, eye contact, communication, laughter, and playfulness in bed.
  • Myths around sex, including that good sex declines with age.
