In 2024, two Ph.D. students, an engineer and a computer scientist, walked up to NVIDIA's booth at the Supercomputing conference. Two years later, they've turned their idea into a beta test for a library called cuNumeric.jl .
In this episode, Ethan Meitz and David Krasowska tell the story of this collaboration, which started when Ethan asked David for help with a different problem. They met through the Department of Energy Computational Science Graduate Fellowship (DOE CSGF), and their path to working with NVIDIA came through David's research and contacts from his practicum research at Los Alamos National Laboratory.
Ethan and David also describe how this project has influenced their other research projects and their perspectives on computational science. This interview was recorded at the DOE CSGF Annual Program Review in July 2026 in Washington, D.C.
