Stefan Mauk | Why Vietnam Was the Right Move

Football chooses us. We chase the highs. And one day… the game ends.

But before the final whistle, there's a lifetime to relive.

Host Ryan Walters places players in the tunnel moments before a World Cup Final, where their careers flash before their eyes. Matches, milestones, moments, mistakes, people. This is football in full life. In full vision. This is Tunnel Vision.

In this episode, Ryan chats with reigning V.League 1 champion Stefan Mauk to explore what life is really like as a professional footballer abroad. From Australia to Holland to Japan to Vietnam, Stefan reflects on the experiences, challenges and perspectives that have shaped his career on and off the pitch.

They dive into:

🇦🇺 Why he chose to leave Australian football behind

🇻🇳 Why Vietnam was the right move

🎆 Fireworks, packed stadiums and the unique culture of football in Vietnam

🏟️ How something as simple as a fresh coat of paint can change perceptions of an entire league

🤢 Vomiting on the pitch and trying to play on

From AFC Champions League nights to life away from home, this is a conversation about embracing new cultures, seeing football through a different lens, and discovering that the greatest rewards of the game aren't always measured in trophies.
