The production of Hadestown the Musical, written by Anaïs Mitchell, currently running on the West End and Broadway premièred at the National Theatre in 2018 before transferring to New York, where it won 8 Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Score.
The production returned to London in 2024, with some of the original principal cast members returning for a short run in 2025, including Reeve Carney and Eva Noblezada as Orpheus and Eurydice, where it was filmed for a cinema release.
BTG Editor David Chadderton spoke to Reeve and Eva, who are married in real life, about the show, how they got involved, what it is like to create a brand new role in a major show, differences in audiences between the National Theatre, the West End and Broadway, haircuts, having their wedding covered by Vogue and more.
The filmed version of Hadestown the Musical will have a limited-time release in cinemas in the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand from 13 October 2026. For more information and to book tickets, see www.hadestownfilm.com.
The stage production at London's Lyric Theatre is currently booking until December 2027 and at Walter Kerr Theatre in New York until July 2027. A UK tour will open at Curve in Leicester in February 2027.
