John Waters is back with A John Waters Christmas, his annual holiday tour that twists tradition with his sharp, satirical edge, and talks with Kyle Meredith all about it. Known for making even the most wholesome holidays delightfully dark, Waters is hitting the road with new material, promising fans advice on “how to talk dirty with just Christmas words” and other hilariously unexpected tips. Waters is also celebrating the release of a new Sub Pop 45, featuring his hilarious cover of The Singing Dogs’ “Jingle Bells” (which he calls “the most hated Christmas song”) on one side, with his spoken-word piece, “It’s a Punk Rock Christmas,” on the other. And, as a nod to his film legacy, Waters is honoring the 30th anniversary of Serial Mom, which he calls his “best movie.” This year, between the tour, vinyl release, and celebrating his iconic dark comedy, Waters continues to gift fans with his distinct, rebellious take on art, the holidays, and everything in between.
